Important Notice from the Practice July 2019

Patient Services –  Changes Stretton Branch Surgery

Dear Patients & Carers

At the beginning of the year our practice made some carefully considered changes allowing patients greater choice and access to a wider appointment system which has been positively received. Trent Meadows remains committed to providing our patients with great care and services and has over the last 12 months had many discussions with East Staffordshire Clinical Commissioning Group and NHS England to ensure our practice remains sustainable and above all safe, despite the pressures that GP surgeries are currently facing.

As many of you will be aware there are two large housing developments within the locality of Branston. As no practice currently covers these areas NHS England and the CCG are having to allocate patients to the nearest practices and Trent Meadows is one of those practices. In order to accommodate this increasing demand this means we need to consider making further changes to our current service.

To manage our limited resources as effectively as possible, we have had to consider moving our Stretton Tuesday afternoon service provision (appointment allocation) to our Main Surgery in Branston. This will mean that the Stretton surgery will be closing on Tuesdays at 1pm. We propose that this change will commence 1st August 2019

Nationally this is common practice for most branch surgeries and we would like to assure everyone that there will not be any decrease in appointment slots. These will be re-allocated to the main surgery for all patients and our contractual commitments will not be affected in any way.

Furthermore we have a large number of patients still registered with us that  historically are from outside of our current catchment areas. These patients, over the forthcoming months/year, may receive notification that they will be required to register with surgeries within their own area. This will allow us to fulfil our commitments safely to patients and freely register those patients from the new developments nearer to our main surgery site. The areas identified that will be affected by the above notification are Rolleston, Horninglow, Burton Town Centre and Stapenhill.

We fully appreciate that some patients may have some concerns or questions following this announcement, we will be working closely with our Patient Participation Group (PPG) to assist with any matters arising. From the date of this notification we will hold a 4-week patient consultation period. If any of our patients have any concerns or queries relating to these changes please email for the attention of our PPG at trent.meadows@nhs.net or please put any matters in writing to the practice for the attention of our PPG.

Thank you
